Joel, Leslie, Rachel, and I got to go to the Muskegon Airshow [Thanks, Topher!] The Blue Angels were there, and then they flew in the air, and we watched them. It was awesome.
Okay, so we were going to meet up at BCP's place.. and I was talking to Joel on the phone to find out where exactly that house was (I suck at remembering.) In the conversation, as I was stopped at this intersection, Joel remarked that he didn't think Macomb ran into Lake Michigan . HA!
Hey Hey! We got to stare at this trucks rear for a long time before we got off the highway.
We're still in traffic, but now some WWII era planes are flying overhead, and I took pictures.
More planes flying overhead.
And now we are parked, and there's the airshow.
There was a biplane doing tricks when we got there.
Um... there were seriously almost as many nascar cars there as there were planes... so this shot is for BDF.
And now we're finally looking looking at airplanes.
Quite frankly, I was disappointed by the F-22. I expected it to be bigger...
Here's an F-18 from Canada... I guess Canada's other plane was in the shop...
From the front.
Here we have 2 F-16s and an F-18.
I talked to the dude here, and he said each bomb logo by the cockpit stood for a bomb dropped on target in the war. Then we talked about Flight hours and total plane flight hours, etc..
There were 2 F-18s on this end.
The Blue Angels are F-18s as well.
The F-16 just took off, and will be performing for a while.
Here is about where we sat... it was ... by the crowd.. You can sorta see the Blue Angels on teh left of the left flag. [1 of them, facing forward, anyway]
There is the Joel.. and you can see the crowds.
They had 2 of those Semis with the jet engines strapped to them... I never really got to see the truck this time.. i could just see the smoke and fire.. it was a disappointment.
You can see a Blue Angel up ahead a bit better now.
Woah.. there's the truck! neat.
This is more like what I saw... flames.. then smoke.
You can see a bit of the truck again. Yeah.. Anti-climactic
I was going to make a lame Stealth joke here.. but instead.. I'll just say I have no idea what this picture is ... except maybe a picture of all the smoke from the Semis.
Here's Fat Albert.. you can see from the smoke trail that it took off almost straight up.. you can see the jets by the wings.
This is Fat Albert... the C-130 that's with the Blue Angels
Here is Fat Albert landing.. he didn't stay airbourne long.
Hey.. see the tail of that blue angel right near the center of the shot? Woo.
Hey! It's me and Rachel... I'm doing my impression of French Stewart.
We brought chairs for sitting on.
The Blue Angels (minus 1.. only 5 flew) are now in the air.
The 4 Planes flew together in formation much of the show, while this solo plane would fly by doing something else... everytime the 4 passed us by, we'd start searching around to see where this guy was at.
It's funny how much like toys they look.
Here are the 4 in diamond shape.
This guy in front of me did not know where the planes were... I think he was still looking at the Nascar area... or wondering what exactly he did to his left sideburn.
More angels in a diamond.
Here's this guy again. He buzzed by us from behind the one time I wasn't set with my camera.
This Blue Angel did a simulated bombing run on Joel's Hippie hair
Here we are, upsidedown, with wheels set out.
A big loop in diamond formation.
More Diamond formation.
The Solo plane does another flyby
and now the 4 line up.
This is one of the best shots I got all day, I think.
And this one is pretty good too.
More angels in a line.
The solo plane does a slow roll.
Four flying skyward.
The weather was pretty much perfect, by the way.
Wow.. I didn't remember this shot. Quite nice, if I do say so myself.
Here's a video of the 4 Angels flying by... then there's some grass.. then we see Rachel making the hand binoculars.
And here's another video of the 4 flying by, then a look around at the crowd.
Here's a clip of the solo plane doing a pointed barrel roll.
This video shows the 4 Blue Angels flying in line right overhead.
That solo plane, again, flying fast and low.
Another video. Imagine "Danger Zone" being played along with this one.. because it probably was. Sadly, there was no "Take My Breath Away"
The number 5 plane didn't fly today, because of "health reasons". I assume that means the pilot.
Rachel!
More diamond action
In this clip, the planes flying together split out in different directions
Solo plane upsidedown flyby.
Now we have all 5 together.
All 5 Flyby
Closer look at all 5.
All 5 cross each other in the center. It was neat.
One by one, they spiral away.
Heading off away from us. Just an FYI, I decided to post about one of every 3 pictures I took. I take a lot of pictures.
This you have to see. It's a video showing how long the line was for the shuttles back to the secondary parking lot after the show.
This is the parking lot right after the show. Instant traffic Jam. We did not bother getting into the car... for about an hour.
While we were sitting by the car, this plane flew right overhead.
It was coming in for a landing... and looked kinda weird.
From that point on, we were anxious for the next plane to land, cause it went right overhead.
You can see the plane landing now.
It's been about 20 minutes. Note where that green car is
About 10 minutes later
they're pulling the Blue Angels to the hangers now
To pass the time, Joel, Leslie, and I played catch. It was Leslie's job to spot incoming aircraft.
There go the Blue Angels
Here's a video of a plane flying overhead, and going in for a landing.
Awwwww !
